Kanguru Solutions –
Encrypted USB Flash Drives

The convenience and popularity of USB Flash Drives has brought about a logistical and security nightmare for many businesses and government agencies.  CIO’s and security officers are faced with a daunting task of trying to decide how to manage the proliferation of unsecured (and unaccountable) portable storage devices.  The days of not being able to account for the security of information coming and going in your installation on portable flash drives and storage media are over!

KanguruMicro Drive AES

The KanguruMicro Drive AES is an ultra secure USB2 Flash Drive, which utilizes 256-Bit AES Encryption to protect data stored on the drive.  Store and transport your work files in a safe, secure fashion.  If the drive is lost or stolen, no one can access the data without your password.

FIPS 140-2 Certification

The KanguruMicro Drive AES is the first USB Flash Drive specifically designed to meet government security standards.  This product has undergone rigorous testing and is FIPS 140-2 certified (FIPS Certificate #682).

FIPS 140-2 is a security standard developed jointly by the US and Canadian Governments.  Corporations and governments throughout the world are now recognizing the FIPS standard.  In the United Kingdom, CESG strongly recommends the use of FIPS-certified devices to protect sensitive information.

How the KanguruMicro Drive AES works

The KanguruMicro Drive AES comes bundled with an encryption program called Kanguru Lock, which creates a virtual disk protected with 256 Bit AES encryption on your KanguruMicro Drive. This encrypted portion of the drive is assigned a new drive letter, and appears to the user like any other system drive. The encrypted disk is password protected and will automatically mount when the correct password is entered. All data stored in the encrypted disk is encrypted and decrypted on the fly, with minimal performance loss. When the KanguruMicro Drive is removed from the system the encrypted disk is automatically locked, and cannot be read until the correct password is supplied.

Key Features:

  • 256-Bit AES Encryption
  • FIPS 140-2 Certified (#682)
  • Optional Master Password
  • Network Deployment Available
  • Write Protection Switch

Customization
Upon request, unique electronic identifiers can be installed on each drive (e.g. “UKGov_0001”).  This allows each individual drive to be assigned to an individual user, and the drive can be tracked and auditing using third-party network applications.  For example, an organization using Sanctuary Device Control can allow access to Kanguru encrypted USB drives, while restricting access to all other unsecured devices.

The KanguruMicro Drive AES is available in red, green, and yellow security colors.  The drive can also be customized with logos or printed with handling and dissemination instructions.
